Could it be that former president Thabo Mbeki could be joining COPE? Your guess is as good as mine. Mbeki’s absence from the state of the nation address on Friday could have given us a hint that he maybe considering lending his support to COPE in the upcoming elections. In Mbeki not attending the state on the nation address, it could have been seen as a sign of him trying to distance himself away from the ruling party. I guess it is only a matter of time before we know where Mbeki’s alliance lies.

But according to a report in the Sunday Times, former deputy president Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka is preparing to join COPE. If she joins COPE, this would be the biggest ‘transfer’ from the ANC to COPE and would certainly send shock waves across the political arena in South Africa. I feel that if Mlambo-Mgcuka joins COPE, you could see more high profile names that were once part of the ANC moving to join COPE. What kind of a signal would it send out if both Mbeki and Mlambo-Ngcuka joined COPE? The two people who led the country are now part of the opposition party!

I will not be amazed if we woke up tomorrow with Mbeki having joined COPE. I am one of those who believe he is the brains behind anyway.Whether it would an advantage to COPE is difficult for me to see. This cos all Mbeki sympathisers, including his mother, are in COPE as we speak. So what advantage? Please help me see!!

Both groups have sold the liberation struggle down the tubes. Basically, it matters very little which party gains power as they both serve parasitical capitalism.
The Freedom Charter is in shambles. We need a true workers alternative.

We must build on the rock the rock that ever stands and look accross the mountains and the valley’s for the victory that lies ahead. South Africa here is the oppertunity of a live time to vote for righteousnes God be with COPE we must stay and pray together as this is a serious matter only way to gain victory.
