The new breakaway ANC party finally has a name. Former Gauteng premier Mbhazima Shilowa, said yesterday (Thursday) that the new party would be called the Congress of the People. The name will be registered on Monday with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). It is said that the name came about by several people sending SMSs with their opinions. It is a name that does not stand out to me the first time I heard it. What do you think of this name?

its time that ANC should know that leaders are groomed and made and the dilemma that is prevailing in the ANC its their quava juice to drink.they have failed with distinction in adressing matters relating to citezens since 1994 and its time for a revolution to unfold.i support COP whole-heartely and we will makesure that the true meaninig of democracy is created within the new party.

    2. Willie says:

The ANC has passed it’s sell by date. The better life for all has not materialised except for a few. Lets not talk about the fat cats. I support the “COPs” and with some hard work they can give ANC a BIG fright next year. Its time for change !

    3. Willie says:

About the name – I like it. Let the ANC challege it, it was only a name of an event in the 50′s. It will soon be a name of the real opposition with or without coalitions. This is history in the making- I think.

    4. msakiwe says:

Its the right time to say openly we are tired of been called coconuts, counter revolutionaries, dogs, snakes, elites, and all kinds of names just because we went to school, work hard and achieve like any other people in the world. please Shilowa when you talk anywhere just mention and assure young people that anybody that excell academically will be cherished and motivated and not to be rediculed as they are doing now in ANC. We need change now and not later as to go back to our vlues and respect of our institutions.

We need change now and not later as to go back to our values and respect of our institutions. We need leaders who will inspire us to greater heights not the ones that will want to own us and suffocate us as so said president of cosatu. They all speak so aggresive as if we are their prisoners already even before they are voted in. I really wonder after 14 years of democracy why they are not part of us in learning how to be humble and assertive

    6. Simon says:

The name is very accommodative, everyone irrespective of the skin colour is welcomed. people who partgicipated in the congress of the paople were non only ANC members but also people from all spheres of life, inclujding chiefs, tradditional leaders, churches business etc. The timw has arrived that we all come together and defend what we reolved in 1955 june 26 in kliptown as people in the congree of the people no congress of the ANC. Intimidations, undermining and everything will be experienced along the way, but we must soldier on. The name is very good and welcomed.

    7. msakiwe says:

Lets match on, we know they are darm scared, thats why they are defencive.they are not scared because we are powerful, strong and reckless but because we stand for the truth. I heared that their commander in chief is not brave enough even to debate on tv about issues. I suppose he does not understand what they are spoon feeding him or he knows his flaws very well.Coming to our home lets just have contingencies in place as they might drag us in potracted flimpsy legal battle as to distract and get wind out of us and we dont have so much time like them. For my advice lets have plan A,B,C,D.in case they challenge all the whole world will see how control freek they are. Our top leaders should avail themselves for scrutiny before they assume positions as that is going to be a second stage of battle they are going to use to vilify our congress.Lets tell the young proffesional people that this is their home of openness and modernity with values based on merrit and not secrecy and cabal like activities.

    11. JOHANNES says:

Now is time to show ZUMA that he should word hard to put ANC back to people.ANC has lost quater of its members now,we are tired to fooled by new ANC(NEC) i think is time for change ANC needs the party that will contest with.I fully support SHIKOTA or Congress of the People.Freedom chater said people shall gorven.ANC failed to keep that promise.kindly JOHANNES from Midrand

    12. frikkie says:

Lekota and Shilowa must know that they are not born leaders. They must stop to confuse people about so-called Congress of The People. They were on a parliament for the those years and they done nothing so what can they do now for the people of the country? All they have to do is to know that ZUMA is our next president and they have to live with that.I want to advice them that when people attend their meetings they are already their members. They must learn from DA and others that donn’t count the chickens before the eggs are hatched. We will see the last man standing after the elections. The elections will select men from the boys.I wish them a very good luck.keep on dreaming.

    13. pule mohutsiwa says:

    14. Fergie says:

We over here in the US like to wish COP good luck. SA needs a strong opposition party to serve as a check and balance to the ruling party. I think that COP should tell Mr. Vavi that inflation is not a friend of the poor, just ask a Brazilian.

    15. Nadia says:

    17. Mawande says:

Long live COPE.Its time South Africans vote for people with values, not kids who do not respect our leaders. If people vote for the “other”party,(you know which one)then the kids from the youth league will be the ones making the decisions,i don’t think South Africans need that.

    18. eddy venter says:

i would like to get involved in your party and make a plan

    19. mm says:

From the bottom of my heart, i always told myself to be a loyal supporter of the ANC and have committed to vote ANC for the rest of my life, but truth be told – Malema has moved me away from my commitment and the Leadership seems to embrace his arrogance and racial ethnic and babaric comments, how dare one say Nastra of a certain group has been dominating the ANC- He is purging most loyal voters away from the ANC, SORRY COMRADES MY VOTE NOT TO THE anc NEXT YEAR. MAYBE shikota .

    20. cynthia says:

do you know were can a person obtain the membership forms of congress of the people

    21. richard maketlo says:

hi friends of democracy let me take this opportunity and salute the brave man and women who did no deter from coming out and defend our democracy. social problems as defined in the development studies i completed at the university of the western cape warned me in 2004, that we need to start the conversation to speak out against failures from the government & ANC. WE SHOULD not be afraid our community are lead by leaders that are to ambitious and arrogance using bombastic word when speaking the ordinary man on the street. the congress of the people came at the right time as an alternative to the ANC! NOT OPPOSITION BUT READY TO GOVERN. I AM ACTION ON BEHALF THE VOICELESS PEOPLE OF WARD 2 IN THE SIYANCUMA MUNICIPALITY AREA IN THE PIXLEY KA SEME DISTRICT, N/CAPE.THE ZUMANIANS SHOULD STOP THEIR CORRUPT TENDENCIES OF CHASING WORKERS AWAY IF THEY DISAGREE WITH THE IN PRINCIPAL.

Please will someone give me a clue where to get a membership card in Capetown. Please we are becoming desperate. Help us God from these certain disaster. Why going to school then if it doesnt matter to these cabal who took over. When our excellent leader was working so hard to connect us to the world and position the country all of them what they were doing instead of helping him were bussy hatching a plot against him. Now they are in power, and whenever they open their mouth in any fora it is a shame to all of us. And i keep on wondering how on earth they are going to stand up against the best in the planet earth, the world is hash down there for the illiterate and we can not allow this to happen to this beautifull and intellectual astitute land of us because we are the one as tax payers going to pay for whatever calamity they cook.

    40. To participate in policy formulation

    41. msakiwe says:

As you can start to see guys our fortunes are starting to change as a country. The OBAMA first call to a strategic African country is TO Nigeria, it might sound small for those who dont care but it is those small small things when added in the end make the picture. Whether yuo agree with me or not there is no sober person or leader who would like to rub shoulders with suspect characters. The bad guys will always be the ones to do that dirty and hard work of networking while in the case of our country it was a matter of taking it further. Now we are siting with lame duck president with albatross arround his neck. Not always the majority can make a sound jurgement on national matters thats why a space is given for the schooled president to have good and resonable power to excecuty his duties without fearing loosing his job as it has happened before our eyes.

    42. joe says:

Change is painful but fruitful. The zuma national congress together with malema youth league is not what the ANC represents. I urge all the people who believe in that a family with morals and values produce aspirable society members who can lead the country with the support of all age groups to change and vote for the political party with a vision to unite, revive what true africans are known for, meaning uncompromised morals and values. The political intolerance by opportunists in the ANC who does not value education led me to seek change, fight for change and mobilize all the victims of ANC politics to vote for the long awaited change: “The congress of the People”

send me contact details of COPE. I am in Kathu, Northern Cape

    43. joe says:

I urge the interim leadership of cope to be patient, respectful and focused always. There will be challenges from all spheres of politics but that must never lead you to surrender or become submissive to the enemies of change in the democracy skin. MR Motlhante is there for the love of south africans, that is why zumalemas are beginning to doubt his loyality to the ANC. For south africa to be a good home we must fight corruption: Not defend it, We must protect and value women: Not abuse them, We must encourage our children who are the future of south africa to be educated and skilled: Not to be just talkative and join the current ANC. Peolpe, let us save south african image, economy, democracy, morals and values by voting for “COPE”

    44. ncedisa says:

      Representing Ikwezi(Mthatha)

    46. msakiwe says:

We must not tire guys to tell and stand for the truth no matter how much flack they are going to throw to us. our party stand for the values that everybody will die for. Our leaders are clean and ready to help the court and the police or any other letigimet authority what they might be looking from them, that alone speak volumes if it is in our founding document.Any sensible person even the corrupted mind can say hang on something special and touchy here.Ican assure you we are talking with South African and themselves are busy stoping people fron jumping from their Titanic ship.Lets go foward singing and preach in unison our message of values systems, without any trace of arrogant. The time to be millitant was the time of apatheid and not now against our people who happen to differ with them.THE VOICE OF REASON WILL PREVAIL

    47. TO HELL WITH ANC ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WE NEED PEOPLE WHO CAN LEAD US TO THE FUTURE NOT TO SELF ENRICHMENT!!! VIVA COPE OUR FUTURE IS IN YOUR HANDS

    48. Modise Mongale says:

Can somebody tell us where are the branches in around Pretoria like Mabopane,Rankua,Erasmus, ext coz last weekend i saw on the news about the meeting in Sosha i would have loved to go but we didn’t know about it

    49. kevin says:

not black enough for the ANC and not White enough for the DA, Is there space for me in COPE, because I love what they stand for. Mr Ramatlekane phone me, we have history.

    50. fantastic , cant wait to be a member and convince friends that there is hope for our wonderful country . no matter what colour , race or religion we are one !!!!! NEED DETAILS PLEASE

    51. msakiwe says:

Fantastic guys for doing a wonderful job especially on the appologies made to shower man lets hope my shower term is not out of order, and to Willy and Mda dont fill down for that let down sometimes we get carried away because of the value we put on our national stakes. And with this in our small small cells that we operate lets just peer review ourselves and appologise to anybody that we may accidentally offend. In our party lets carry the label of maturity, respect and honest. The way we carry ourselves when we make mistakes will be our strength. COPE IS OUR HOPE

    52. joe says:

Sir Madisha and Madam Mda, i salute you for showing the nation that you are mentally healthy human beings who can solve the country’s problems constructively. Apology is one of the strongest weapon SA needs to avoid cold war. You are our hope combrades and i urge you to mobilize support for the COPE. We are with you, come 2009, SA will witness political punch. My vote is guaranteed!!!!!

    53. msakiwe says:

Lets our clean leaders be our true colours lets move foward with the truth. What is astonishing is that in their mind they have ingrained that only ANC can lead this country even when they are at fault. And it is this attitude that surprise me. It is the same attitude that ZANU PF and other failed parties have got. Arogant and war talk is what they think people want to hear, they dont know majority of our people have shifted from those kind of gears. We are yearning for a modern and foward looking society and not Maxist and Angles philosophies that is going to ruin us as it did to all other failed states. I suspect they are looking foward to pretend that they are fighting for the poor while their real motive is to frustrate the systems in place of combating corrupt activities Surely COPE now will be in their heels thats why they are so furious as we are about to dash their hope of looting. Just take a sigh and recall how their tone have changed. we now know how arrogant they can be. Remember COPE IS HOPE

    54. Catherine K Losaba says:

Hi I am in the iterim structure of COPE Soshanguve Mabopane. Please if you need information make sure that you leave your contact numbers

    55. msakiwe says:

Guys open your mind these guys have lost credibility to any sensible citizen. Look what is in their mind, they are not ready to debate anything about what they are doing or want to do to this country they can do so if only when they are themselves. To my understanding it means they believe they are Alfa and Omega and they dont want to be challenged or asked any question.Truely it must be a reason, either they are completely out of order or they know what they are embarassed so much with that they cant defend it. Mind you this is not the first time for their commander in chief to skip and beg someone else to represent him. They seems to be very good for unsuspecting audience who dont ask critical questions.Taking advantage of our disparate and ignorant people. Its time to unmask them to show who they are and their motive. COPE IS HERE TO STAY AND IT IS OUR HOPE.

    56. Yvonne says:

    59. Catherine K Losaba says:

Hi people of South Africa the new dawn is here for us and the future of our democracy is in our hands now and here foerver thanks to Comrade Lekota and Shilowa.See you in Blom.

    60. Matakeni says:

Part of COPE policy of Farming: Farmers should be subsidised on the same scale they were subsidised during apartheid so as to encourage farming and reduce food prices – It is important – People will die of hunger.Agricultural Science should also be encouraged at school not only Mathematics.
South African Police Services should be replaced with metro police and investigation unit should be left in the hands of Scorpions. Some Scorpions trained managers should be deployed to lead metro police.SAPS is corrupt down from the roots and an overhaul is the way.
BEE should be replaced by PEE(People Economic Empowerment)so that it can cover the needy white youth and women.Rich black people children should not be covered.

    61. msakiwe says:

Lets just be clear to our citizen that we are not bitter but driven by moral values rule of law and discipline, thats is our difference with ANC. All what we are advocating will be in our constitution and walk the talk as we have demonstrated in a short time of our existence.Let it be known that we believe that untrained or unqualified public worker is poisonous to all our endevour so need training and enjoy whatever salary they earn and not encourage unity in the work place even when they dont deserve their salary.People should be encauraged to excell in business and not to be called names. To be plain sometimes people might be jelousy for not making it academically or businesswise then instead of asking themselves what they might be doing wrong, they want spoil the whole party and force it to their way. This means they dont believe in knowledge or working hard.Everytime they talk they talking of coconuts to intimidate those who dares to excell. God bless “COPE” our movement that see reason.

    62. Matakeni says:

Interms of housing delivery ANC is a flop.Apartheid government surpassed them.People don’t want free housing.People want permanent jobs first, then build them low cost affordable houses. COPE should realise that.
If whites should feel at home to be in South Africa under COPE government. ANC has encouraged hostilities between blacks and whites with the irresponsible way of dealing with sensitive race related issues.I am confident whites will greatly help us to build permanent jobs for the people and grow quality black businesspersons.
We need black and white to live like brothers and sisters in this country. Hostilities disadvantage the poor.Workers should be encouraged to increase production rather than be sturbbon and hostile to employers.

    63. Elizabeth says:

“Cope” has brought “Hope” this is the best thing that has ever happend. If we do not have hope we are lost.Let us pray for the succsess and well being of this party and the people. They say a apple a day keeps the docter away. A Prayer a day keeps us well and on the way. May God bless Cope aand that they will flourish.

    66. Where is our Office in BFN 0FS before 16 Dec 2009 & Coordinators, Contacts

    67. richard donovan says:

how would I get more information regarding membership of COPE?

I feel that it is high time we had some meaningful opposition to the ANC, the top members of whom are lining their pockets at the expense of the ordinary man in the street.
Besides the fact that the ordinary man has more social freedom, he still does not have the free education that was promised in 1984, the “free” health care is a joke and jobs are at a premium.

It’s time for an organised and sustained opposition.

    68. msakiwe says:

Lets match foward guys, and this match is for a good purpose. We have a clear purpose that we can difend and explain to anybody without feeling embarassed with our stand. Our purpose is universaly understood and embraced. No one will ever win against sanity. Our clean and humble leaders will stand any scrutiny and any mud thrown on them will not stick. These are the leaders that will take our nation to the next level. Let ANC be arrogant and try to bend all the rules to suit them even when the laws doesnt allow that particularly their leaders and their tainted secret financial backers. We are here to stand and tell our people rank and file that “COPE” is the new hope, the new begining, the start from a new slate. We have no grudges, no past burgeges and truth and human solidarity is our moto. This organisation belongs to the people who have experienced a noble liberation movement taken away from them by a clique of individuals with minimal respect for institutions that safeguard our constitution. Leaders are the servant of the people and not the other way round so they have to be accountable strictly and not pretending.
Let our “COPE” leaders show the way and have an oath to our people that:
I will be a sevant of the people and not the othe way round.
As a leader if there is an indifferent with the law, i will lead by example through cooperation and not hinder the work of the law.
The conduct of my life should inspire the and not soil the image and good standing of our people and the nation.
The honours bestowed and good contribution made by our past leaders will not rubbished or rediculed even when in the future they differ with us.
It is my responsibility to use the oppotunity provided to formaly educate myselve as to be able to carry my daily tasks in an enlighted manner if that knowledge is lacking to my side.
My conduct shoul be that unite and not that bring fear and dispear.
If there is any transgression to the values of the movement in my presence, i will be the first to do everything to my power to protect and restore these values and failure to do that will mean failure to be a leader.
Clearly this is going to be a tall order for those who pretend to be leaders.PLEASE ADD ON OR REFINE WHAT YOU HAVE READ AND IF POSSIBLE USE IT IF RELEVANT.

    69. desmond van wyk says:

Still waiting for contact in Western Cape my cell 0825195204

    70. Matakeni says:

I am disgusted with the way IEC is handling ANC intimidation in and around polling stations in general.ANC should have never have been allowed to distribute leaflets telling voters that it is not registered. It should have kept quite and let people go to polling stations and get explanations there. By informing the people through hailers and leaflets amount to intimidation. If a voter went to the polls,is easily identified and can expose him/herself to all sorts of abuse, intimidation and attacks by ANC.
May be I am putting the cart before the horses but IEC is definitely an ANC replica which should not be taken lightly. Another Zimbabwe or African country for that matter is facing our country.

    71. msakiwe says:

Now guys as you know well ANC is slowly but surely is showing all the signs ot ZANU PF tacticts. First they call people counter revolutionaries, now their SG is claiming the Emperialists are behind “COPE”. please Mantashe when did people of this country become emperialist. When they were swearing on people on TV and call them names were they expecting the masses of our people to just mourn and do nothing to relieve themselves from their shame? you were darm mistaken. We know they are very good to intimidate jurges and call them names, but for hou long.I was watching with disbelief Mzimande talking on TV that the court has helped COPE to steal their name. Can you really tell the court when they make a rulling that the help someone to steal? Lets match on we are here to go foward with our clean and respectable leaders. We are waiting eagerly to have the face of COPE. Choose the the clean one guys as ANC are praying day and night to replicate their mistakes. These couple of wins are sure to inspire us to forge ahead. “COPE” IS OUR HOPE and let the dauting Thomases know this.

    72. Matakeni says:

ANC leadership is so stupid and may it stay like that until COPE win the elections in 2009.
Congratulations maCOPE on the successive legal win over ANC. Now we need to transform these legal battle wins into the 2009 elections win. AMANDLA! ALL POWER, TO THE PEOPLE!

    73. richard donovan says:

Both I and my wife would be willing to canvass for the party in the durbanville area. Please let me know if our services would be required.

      Richard

    74. Willie says:

Well COPE is now the name that will stay. Interested persons must just be a little patient because everything up to now has been “interim”. After 16th everything will be full steam ahead and more formal structures will be established. Thanks for the support -there is lots of hard work ahead.

    75. Mkhenza says:

We need to be more responsive to issues that affect all South Africans. There lies a great opportunity in reaching the poor in Squatter Camps, rural areas, etc.

Let’s face it, the BEE, DA friendly, aloof, Middle Class, Suikerbos image is not election friendy in SA. Elections are all about numbers & the numbers lie in the majority of poor Africans… All can belong but the poor, who also see the slide of the ANC towards corruption, immorality and depravity, must not perceive that they do not belong in COPE. What we speak as COPE, should also resonate with all South Africans…

Just on crime. We need to be talking Death Penalty and more powers to the police to be effective against crime. The legal processes are in favour of the criminal, this must change if we are to change the country to an uplifting and peaceful place to live.
Naturally there needs to be a balance to protect the innocent whilst making crime unattractive because of severe punitive measures. e.g. Castration of rapists, life sentences for housebreaking and robbery. Who doesn’t dread the thought of criminals breaking into their homes robbing and raping their relatives? The poor are not immune to this, they experience this all the time…

We should also re-launch the Gauteng Campaign & Soweto’s ideal for this: there are several venues: UJ Campus in Soweto, Jabulani Amphitheatre, SAFA/Hyundai Stadium, Orlando Stadium, etc.

COPE is the Hope and Future of South Africa…

    76. Matakeni says:

Hate spreading among the people of SA is what ANC had done and continues to do.Labelling their competitors along colour lines. We know ANC is so good on paper but look at what they practically do,its a bizzarre. They will continue to insult us and the whites of this country.
Their 96 years history means nothing to the unemployed and the hungry stomachs;means nothing to our safety and security;means nothing to falling apart health care system;means nothing to polarisation of white and blacks;means nothing to the dirty water we drink every day.
If 96 years history would unite us and deal away with hunger affecting us, we would honour their history.

    77. msakiwe says:

Yes we are on the way let our organisation show the world that we are non racial and we have walked the talk. Let the job of uniting our people begins.Terror now we need to resist and talk against any tendency especially in our systems when filling forms a person is asked to fill which race he or she belongs. When i see this question anywhere inside me tell that something is not right even though it doesnt affect me but to talk the truth it pains particularly when you consider where we are coming from. This is the time for our society to become normal through “COPE”

    78. Desmond Mckenzie says:

Before the launch of Cope,I was still unsure about joining Cope. Cope here I come, Iam ready to work towards a victory for the 2009 election. Hope we will officially launch our branch in Goodwood Cape Town soon.

Viva Cope forward to a victory in 2009.

      Desmond Mckenzie

    79. Phumlani Diko says:

This is history ascibed by our own hands, we can never allow the past struggle imprison us for the future. We refuse to take emotional politcal blackmail, for our past struggle, yes we’ll forever be greatful for our freedom that’s why we are now practalising this freedom into meaningful translated reality, economically and otherwise.

Cope is the adversity of Hope!

      Nala!Amandla ! Matla!

    80. Elizabeth says:

Yesterday 16 Dec. was a great succsess. When we look back in history it was a day of victory for all South Africans we where all set free of a devostating war. We do humble ourselfs in commeration and therefor we are now also able to celebrate the 16th a day of a new begingings, love, life and a vision. People are so excited as COPE has brought HOPE for all SA who wish to participate Lets pray together and we’ll stay together. The grouth will exceed our expectation.

    81. lilian says:

viva cope… where are the branches in cape town and where are the meetings?

    82. neville jarman says:

Congrats to COPE. Where is the branch in the Ballito area? How does one become a member? Cope seems to embrace all South Africans including us whites. It seems to be non-racist (unlike the ANC) and at last there is some hope for allof us in SA. We need to stop SA sliding into a Zimbabwe-like abyss that the ANC is taking us all towards. COPE is the future for all people with positive values.

    83. Dave Guy says:

I wish to join COPE. Please send me the relevant details as to how I can do this.

    85. msakiwe says:

Surely ANC is like ZANU PF
      1. It is a liberation movement
      2. It has got and incourage war veterans out of main stream nationl defence force.
3.All of its top leadership intimidate and call names the legal systems and jurges when rulings go against them.
      4. It believe it is the only party anointed to lead or rule the country.
      5. It intimidate and threatening with violent others who oppose it
      6. It believe in the work of emperialist whenever confronted with opposition
      7. It believe in the continuation of policy of colour categorisation in its policy and not helping those in need of help.
      8. It has a policy of deploying its cadres in public institutions without considering their qualification in those posts.
9.Its leaders protect each other blindly when accused of breaking the law even when passued by law enforcement agencies.
      10. The party is above the law and have no regard for principle or constitution.
THINK ABOUT IT AND TAKE A SIGH.

    86. S.Joseph says:

    87. Phumlani Diko says:

Our political and law atmosphere has given all South African citzen a room to debate, opening eyes to the ignorant and allowing all citizen to be politcal experts and advocates…Allowing us to be of sober senses about our present and future.

I guess any South African that has a conscious will forever be greatful of the ANC for leading their Liberation. But Liberation is not once, it is progressive and must produce fruits in this case Democracy.

As we approach the polls(elections) we must be sober, use our discretion and trust our judgement in wrighting our own history and destiny. The truth is we can never go to exile or Robbin Island in order to make a meaningful contribution in our Country, therefor we refuse to be bound emotionaly for our greatefulness.

We must ask our selves as fellow citizens:

      1. How do we make those in power to fully account for their actions?

      2. How do we keep full transparency of the use of state resources to the benefit of the citizens?

      3. Who can we trust to bring back the dignity of our country, beyond party lines?

      4. How can we make the dream of making South Africa to work again for all citizens?

      5. How can we plant the seed of patriotism to our citizens beyond partilines so we can get them thinking soberly on real issues?

      6. Finally, how can we bring back to the poles those senior citizens that have stopped voting due to dissapointments?

7.Finaly, How can we be in control of our destiny and not give a blank cheque to those power, of doing whatever they please about our lives.

All this has been inspired in me, by the patriotism and citizenship Americans bare on themselves, in making their country better. Yes, they come along way to wake up in realising their lives are more important than colour/race,tribe or even partisen but to push economic ideology and political agenda that have a real meaning to their lives.

All South Africans ‘NEED A BETTER LIFE’ the question is who can offer it?

All political parties are ineffective and do not live their vision, hence you only know and see their visibility only when ‘COMPAIGNING FOR VOTES’. This therefore delays service delivery and only during these compaigns do political parties and/or government become active.

‘CITIZENS MUST REDEFINE THEIR POLITICAL LANDSCAPE AND POLITICIANS MUST BE HELD TO ACCOUNT BY US’.

The question is: Can African Liberation Movements mentain and translate freedom into a meaningful reality to its people.

Or maybe African Liberation Movements only go as far as to Liberating and not leading this Liberation into a meaningful democracry that yields fruits.

Look LIBERATION is only a seed, we know that you can’t eat a seed, but DEMOCRACY is a fruit of Liberation/Freedom. Otherwise if Liberation is not nurtured the reality of a fruitful Democracy becomes like Zimbabwe(Zanu-PF)/Namibia (SWAPO) etc.

Can COPE be a Political Party that will have its own personality which will translate seeds(Liberation) into a meaningful fruit (Democracy)?

Can COPE be the audacity of HOPE, for our raped democracy, in awe of a ‘Personality Cult’?

Maybe COPE will be the driver of this new political order. Change is inevitable, there will be new political order in South Africa. Our politics are maturing faster than we think.

All i can say is: ”Have lunch or be lunch”.

    98. Elizabeth says:

Good for Mr Shilowa – and not any other party’s leader – to address the forum for international investors. However, with investors clear concern about BEE, Mr Shilowa made it clear they will continue with this strategy – which is in fact only benefiting a couple of prominent Black individuals – I am concerned that Broad Based BEE is only a cover-up for BEE benefiting some individuals – I am involved in a BBEE business in the rural area – no special treatment for us – SO my question is – what is the real difference then between COPE and ANC’s policy regarding this – because we surely know BEE is not economically benefiting the people of this country and surely not building the country up. BEE in Gvt contracts is just applied to enrich the contract holders – and not the beneficiaries – look at the corruption in housing departments – it is a disgrace. As Pres Obama said – we will be judged for what we have built up – not what we’ve destroyed. Ms. Mary-Anne Barnard.

    99. Khaya Tollie says:

Only Cope will cope to accomodate people from SA in all spheres because we must first priotirise jobs for all those who are unemployed and have roof over their heads and be able to educate their children without being threatened about school fees and instant dismissals.Definate Cope will cope to do those things

    102. Mark Alexander says:

I agree fully with what COPE stands for. Subsequently I have joined the new party from abroad. I feel they will improve on the current situation in the country, which will encourage me to again ply my trade in South Africa. The fatcats pockets are so full that it is even closing their eyes and ears as in see no evil hear no evil. What I’ve done in the Eastern Cape (EMS) for 19 years has gone unnoticed, which sent me abroad. I have much more to give, but that will only be under the COPE banner. We will be a force to be reconned with in the 2009 elections! Come join the party for the people!

    103. Khaya Tollie says:

I am already in and i wish i can join you abroad because all citizens of this country are being jeopardised and punished by people who are evil but the time for revelation has come PHAMBILI COPE IZAPHUMA INYANISO

    104. Elizabeth says:

Viva COPE! It seems that the opposition is loosing it by complaining that their members is crossing to COPE! Nothing wrong in a DEMOCRACY – what the ANC so called stand for – to exercize your freedom of choice and join the party you belief in. COPE must just make sure All Parliament people, Premiers’, MEC’s and Departments are held accountable for their actions. Policies must be in place to fire people if they do not perform and dishonor your name and the people – Look at the transport debacle – The current government is not Department of Transport or Department of Housing… – It is now the Departments of PAPERS! Papers are more important than Transport, Houses and Health… for the People. Please COPE I hope your heart is where your mouth is – Then you’ll have my vote!

    105. Khaya Tollie says:

    116. Elizabeth says:

As a Democratic South Africa we have a right to join any party of our choice at any given time. There was a time when floor crossings took place even in parliment. This is a question the ANC keeps asking the COPE delicates just to embaress them well it is a simply answer Freedom of Choice and Human Rights. No one needs shy away as ANC is full of floor crossers. Therefor Cope has to excersize their Democratic Right for a better South Africa and the future of all its people. May God Bless COPE

    117. Joe van Wyk says:

Look for faults in the development of SA and do something about it. 119. msakiwe says:

Let the man of the clothes lead us in this crusade of clean leadership and set the standard. The ANC has been using bitterness to explain why COPE is here but my friend now it will be hard for them to move on this one. Now will be the time for this giant to call the Nation to respond to this call and do this on radios, TVS and all forms of media. So far as we stand for the truth the voice of reason will triumph.

    120. Elizabeth says:

The addition to the team looks promising and will proceed with the Hope for COPE as never before. Never under estimate the opposition as some are sleeky and will try all the dirty tricks in the book to runover other people.Election rally’s are aimed to obtain votes for the end of the race.
We do not want a violent party or nation therefore we will only vote for the respectable party who respects Human Rights & cares for all the citizens of South Africa who live here.

    121. msakiwe says:

Thank you Terror for showing how true leaders respect those who deserve respect. they were all waiting with eagerness for the resolve of COPE to go in flames and go to the whole world to say you see thats why they left ANC God forgive them, they were wrong please friends and member of COPE make and elect the clean one and stand firm from the begining. just as a child we will never go wrong as whoever come will know before you are given leadership we have got a standard scanner to count all the bornes, veins and cappilaries if there is remnants of cancer corruption. They are trying to mesmarise us with funny songs while their mafiosos are cleaning the coffers.

Our leaders should communicate clear and unambiquois message to get the people to imagine the government free of corruption, how many houses and services could have been done. How many houses and tap water could have done by the state money used to avoid the law. they are those things people want to hear. Our face of the party must have a compehensive data to explain those data in detail and not just headings. in that way even the poor will be able to see through because our people need to be helped to see through.we need a dosier that can be on the newspapers that matters. time is not in our side but using the correct aproach and proper tools we can move mountains.

    126. Elizabeth says:

There is a difference between politics and the church, in the church they preach the gospel, politicsis in general the goverment and various political parties. We should be able to make a clear distinction between the 2, however politics cannot function on its own because every decision that is made without prayer cannot be successfull. A prayer a day keeps the devil way. All governments needs guidence and which better remedy can there be but to get on our knees and pray. People may have different opinions so let it be. It is quite clear that all churches share the same views the difference between right and wrong. If these views are maintainded we will have a better live for all. COPE gives HOPE

I was shocked when i read what Carlos said about the Brazil being the Team that can take the World Cup and i began to ask myself why this man was hired in the first place, if he can’t see the team that he is coaching winning the World Cup? he is just wasting our money, he must be fired, we might as well hire our local coaches, he is not even fooling us to make us believe in our national team, how are the players going to believe in themselves if the coach himself does not believe in them, if i was in SAFA, i would have fired that guy after his statement, i am very much disappointed in Carlos Alberto Parreira, i don’t even know why do we still have him as the head coach for Bafana Bafana because he is certainly not interested in them, he is interested in Brazil, he must go and coach Brazil.
