Is it right or fair to judge someone’s actions based on their matric results? Last week, reports surfaced about ANC Youth League President, Julius Malema’s matric results. Apparently an email containing Malema’s results showed that the outspoken leader scraped through matric with an H in maths and a G in woodwork, both on the Standard Grade (SG). The email reveals that Malema, passed matric with Es in Sepedi HG and second language Afrikaans HG, an F in geography HG, D in history SG and a C in second language English HG, the latter being his highest mark. The ANC Youth League was quick to come out and say that this information was not true and that the email was fake and compiled by a person with an agenda.

Now reports yesterday are suggesting that Malema is not studying for a Law or any other degree part-time at Unisa. Unisa was responding to a report The Star on Friday, which published a copy of his matric certificate and indicated that he had “successfully registered” for a part-time law degree at the university.

Should people be concerned about what Malema’s results are and whether he is studying or not? There are some highly successful people who do not even have a matric certificate. I am not saying that I side with Malema and all his ranting and raving but should a fuss be made about his educational successes or lack of them?

I think that if his actions justified it, we could ignore his results.

    2. Serame says:

Those successful people you refferring to in the Malema matric article had no opportunity to study as they were fighting for our freedom.Malema emanates from generation of the 90s and he had opportunity to educate himself but instead of doing so he was busy coaching educators what to do as a result he could not make it. The issue is as a youth leader how do you stand in front of SA youths and ecourage them to be educated. this will be a preaching that you as a leader never practised. NOW WE UNDERSTAND THE BASIS OF HIS UTTERRANCES!!!

    3. khusta says:

can u please send me the matric results and whic paper do they come out in

    4. Tebogo says:

The are two things in life
      1- is interlligence
      2- is wisdom
there are people who are not given when it comes to school but they naturally genius.
Malema is a true leader especially when it comes to SA youth.
God have bless him with wisdom

    5. Luda says:

There is no excuse for Malema’s results. Looking at leaders who emerged from the midst of the Apartheid era (Mandela, Mbeki etc.) these men struggled for our rights but also realised that education is the key! Granted, there are others like Zuma who have little education but then again look at what he went through for this country from an early age. Can you really compare Zuma’s past to that of Malema’s? Malema had the opportunities but chose not to make use of it-which I fear has become a trend with many ‘youth’ freedom fighters/leaders/politicians.
With regard to the previous post, I cant tell if Tebogo is being sarcastic…if not, I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion, even the ‘wise’.

    6. Khanyisa says:

I think that education is the key to success in wateva yo want to do.now i think malema is not the right person to lead us as the youth coz of hs lack of education.dat is also why he doesnt have a way to talk to people.down with malema!

    7. Olehile says:

Malema’s rudeness and lack of respect for the elders justifies why his matric results were poor. I can assume that he used to dodge his classes and would never be advised positively by elders. He is a bad example to the youth of today from whom we expect to take our country to the top in the world. I suggest he registers for a tertiary qualification in behavioural science, and the results will justify my above comments. He is a disgrace.

    8. Julius Ma-moron. says:

Julius Malema is not socially smart at all. hes not smart nor is he wise. His results speak for themselves, but His words and actions are similar to that of an ignorant animal seeking blood and as much as he can gain for himself. Hopefully karma does us a favour and comes full circle and ignoramus Malema finds himself kicked out of the Youth league.

    9. SEDIMA says:

EDUCATION IS THE TO SUCCESS IN WAT EVER YOU WANT TO DO. Malema didn’t struggle for this freedom that is why he just speak the way he like, people who fought for this freedom they dont do what he is doing.i think that Malema he is a bad example to the youth of today…

    10. what one want to become in life it does not determine by what one achived in the matric results,so leave malema alone please. from skhalo.

    11. Palesa says:

MALEMA is disgracing our ruling party with his uncivilised behaviour and comments,so ha aya shapua sekolong jwalo ka bana babang

    12. Carren mokoena says:

As far as im concerned malema does not exist in my life he is a pethetic idiotic twit one can imagine

    13. sly says:

the ability to lead is not determined by matric but is a skill that you can obtain thought knowledge and interlligence.

    14. Victor says:

Since Julias malema is a leader of our youth league, he must be capable of doing lot of things like remembering lot of usefull information, but the fact that he faied to remember the theorem of pythagorous in his exam room explains a lot of what people think about him, therefore, passing matric with good marks shows the capability of a man in lot of things, i think as time goes by, Julias will end up telling people that passing matric with good results is not that important, we must face the fact that Malema is not smart at all

    15. MOSS-MORRIS says:

i do think that julius is having good leadership skills. He will tell you directly what he doesn’t like about you rather than gossiping. He is respecting elders rather than fearing them, therefore he can be a good leader. He is exercising his freedom of speech or expression,so why must we supress him?he is right.4rom Thanyane dimakatso morris

    16. rubey says:

malema you are the best leader my president if you cant beat him join him

    17. MALAKIA MOKGOPO says:

malema is the man.he fought for so many things that nthe youth of SA doesn t have at the past. as a pedi boy from limpopo, here @ work they call me that- i have a mind like malema. i told them that , that my homeboy its fine. do what ever suit you boy.

    18. Retshephile Bridget says:

wether they like it or not Malema is the ANCYL PRESIDENT with or without a gud matric results, what really matters is how he lead the youth of south Africa as a whole and from my point of view Malema is the best……!

    19. Peekay seokwang says:

Malema my president is a genius, no matter wt helen zille is sayin. Juju i think its tym 2 intervene on dat matter of uofs abt dat rector is he also a racist or wt

    20. victor says:

Those dull people like Julilus Malema will see him as a good leader because they are like him, The some of the qualities that a good leader must have are Inspiration, Motivation and Innovation. just tell me the leader who Influenced Julius Malema, one other thing is that Leaders do the right things, but Julius malema do things right. note the difference between doing right things and doing thngs right. If there’s something that Julius is good at, is to be a comrate, just that!!! Do you think Your Malema is setting a good example on the you ng generation? He like calling hallen zille a racist which he also is, can’t you see that this stupid is a racist?

    21. Nkosinathi says:

Malema is equals to stupidity. Talking sence to Malema is a waste of time, just give him wood because he is a dead wood. Please ANC lets us not disapoint the nation and the world by roping illiterate dead wood in our leadership. The tradition of ANc is known please let stand up for watat is right and will be good for our children, let face reality. Malema is not good for any ANC leadership he qualify to be a noty shopstuward. Its a shame, a very big shame endeed!!!!

    22. sphe zondi says:

Malema has so far led the ancyl in an acceptable manner. As a vibrant and millitant youth of this country need leaders like JM,not affraid to voice out their thoughts regardless. Phamblili nge BLOCK BUSTER yethu, qhubeka mfana kaMalela.

    23. nixon says:

malema is is a born leader.what ever everyone can think julius has a true leadership skills.everyone must stop judging malema with his education backround.how many people in sa are unemployed while in poses high education qualifications.julius is a true leader

    24. Luda it is now post apartheud era so you better make no comparisons of current matters with those. if so, atleast dont include people like mbeki who-when the kitchen got hot-ran away and study overseas. tell me if you’ve heard anyone saying nbeki was involved in MK or other movement which was anti-apartheid. and by the way, who told you that Zuma have little education? go and search his biography if you want to know about him.

    25. lettie says:

it is good bcoz we get news before other media publish this information

    26. thobela says:

i think its a shame on him and its obvious that his mouth runs way faster than his brain.

    27. Matthew says:

Julius Malema has no education and quite frankly, he lacks the plain Intelligence to lead without subsequence. He is a racist, and idiot and a cretin and he should be stopped NOW before he does massive damage to this country, both here and abroad. How many potential investors in SA has his childish diatribe already scared away?

    28. mafenya says:

VIVA comrade president Julius Malema viva, away with negative media reports away!!!!!!!!!!

    29. Matthew says:

Mafenya, will you only be happy when this fool Malema has turned our country into a Zimbabwean wasteland? OPEN YOUR EYES, or you will surely sink with him.

    30. hloni says:

Mafenya know what he’s talking about…and i support him 100%.Malema he’s not a fool at all, he knows what he’s doing and i support him all the way.You can say what ever you want about him but he’s here to stay.

    31. Matthew says:

Ah, but you are so wrong. I suggest you read “animal farm” – a very enlightening book by George Orwell. In this he states “all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others…” Not only is Malela out of his intellectual depth in a car park puddle, but he is a fraud too. How can he claim to be a champion of the poor people while he is earning millions from government tenders and still making a fiool of the law of the land? He is evading tax, driving without a licence and most PROBABLY involved in underhanded tactics to secure wealth for himself and his cronies. He is making a fool of all of you. But I encourage you to continue your support of him -you are the ones he will forget the fastest when the time comes – and all of you blind fanatics will be like lost sheep – without a leader and without hope – instead you will have placed another African Despot into power, who cares nothing about you or yourf country, only about fattening his own wallet. Some of us, who are old enough to have seen this happen everywhere else in Africa can see through his lying and manipulation. He is a menace. I find it absolutely shamefull that he represnets the youth of the same organisation that saw the rise of Madiba. The old man must be so embarassed fy Foolius Dilemma every time he opens his mouth.

    32. hloni says:

i’ve read the animal farm several times and i understand it very clear….Now is time for Malema to enjoy himself,You know what just flush yourself down the nearest toilet,Okay?you’ll meet all your compatriots there.Malema is here to stay….whether you like it or not.

    33. Matthew says:

Ouch. Your inability to hold a conversation in a civil and polite manner without resorting to insults and gutter grammar is obviously an indication of your level of intelligence – or your LACK of intelligence)which explains why you would support an idiot like Malema) I guessthat is you had to read Animal Farm more than once – and you STILL can’t see the writing on the wall. I pity you. Retard.

    34. Nkosinathi says:

In 1985 a racist idiot called P W Botha in his famous stupid speech about his beliefs about aperthaid said something that is true about us Africans, me included. That is, Africans do not know how to rule themselves. Look how simply a country with 50 million people can so easily believe and accept that Julius is leader. Look at Africa as a whole, how many true leaders are there? Mandela is the only towering symboly of a realy leader. I feel ashamed that my country is plunging into a Zimbabwean system of leadership. Corruption, lies, protests, toyitoyi, and loud noises from Malemas with their million tenders from goverment.Unproffessional teachers antagonised by unions and SACP.Our unionised soldiers have tested how easy it is to invade a state house and stage a toyitoyi. This is purely an animal farm senarior. The country is confused we need to look at ourselves and seriously consider what is good for the country.Service delivery protest everywher is as a results of the so called leaders. To me its quite clear a violent revolution is arround the corner. If that happens everyone will be loosers except those Malemas with millions. Frankly is there a country with strike like ours? What causes this? Which government are we talking about that we are fighting? The problem in this country once people get employed they do not want to work but to talk, talk, talk and thanks to the unions, very bad apples are kept on all the sytems that are suppose to run the show and improve the lives of the poor.

    35. Matthew says:

Nkosinathi – I am SO relieved to see that some of my African countrymen can see the wood for the treees. You speak the truth. Make sure he never gets into power – it will mean tragedy for us all.

      God bless.

    36. rati says:

how does one fail his/her mother tongue??? *shocked*

    37. Matthew says:

Very good question. A more pertinent one would be,”why do the powers that be continue to support and advocate a man who is obviously doing so much harm to their image and their cause? why is it that he continues to enjoy this untouchable status? What does he know that scares everyone so much? who is he protecting? who is protecting him? and most relevant: WHY?

    38. mankoko-st says:

If one has a problem with Our ANCYL president he or she must come upfront, we won’t tolerate situations wherein our president is forcely accussed, there is no law that says it is a crime for a black person to own businesses, and his matric results are nothing we all have our weaknesses. Long live Cde Jilius Majuju Blockbuster long live, We are the future, no one can stop us.

    39. Matthew says:

Mankoko, Firstly, no-one has a problem with Foolius Malema brcause of his colour. Why do you point out that he is a black business owner? why are you maiking this a race issue? The problem is that Malema IS USING HIS POSITION IN THE YOUTH LEAGUE TO GAT ACCESS TO TENDERS WHICH WOULD OTHERWISE NOT BE AVAILABLE TO HIM. Even worse, he does this while drinking Moet et Chandon, driving luxury cars and preaching poverty to the poor masses. He is the type of politician who will ensure that the ANC loses power in this country. And if you believe you are the future because of people like hime, then I have a surprise waiting for you – YES there is a future ubder Malema, the ANCYL and the ANC – a very DARK future. Read your history lessons – take off your blinkers and look at AFRICA. She is in a mess because for too long the Malemas of the world have been allowed to trample rough shod over the people. We can no longer blame colonialists or imperialists or apartheid for the woes in Africa – It is time to step up to the plate and take responsibility for the state that Africa is in as AFRICANS. We are the ones who voted these pricks into power, by Jupiter we shall vote them out again.

    40. angus mong says:

please south africans give malema break let him prove he can lead. there are just to many people outhere who are educated and ahve failed us dismally and we never said about them. we have people like bo terror theyhave failed us instead they want power they ran away when we wanted them most. educated people never wants to associate themselves with poor people they want poor people to associate theselves with them.please give malema break and support him malema o a letlhoka

    41. hloni says:

YA you right my Man!!!!!!!He deserve chance like every one……

    42. Nkosinathi says:

In Africa they been no intellectual revolution. As an ANC myself whose dad died in exile I do not know what will I loose when I take a firm stand against combrades who are bent at tanishing the vallues and ethics that our struggle was for and still for equal justice for all whether black, yellow, white or pink. No one must be exposed to abuse by a very young disrepectful person as Malema. He had humilliated very senior people in our organisation some being said to be having fake nasal accent. If we real mean to make a change in our lives look at yourself right now and ask yourself what society do you want to see, doing what you always do but expecting different results is just crazy. I can’t be intertained by foolishness of a person who will plung this country into a laughing stoke of the world. Our African brothers who got independence before us most of their goverment has failed very badly because their people failed to take corrective measures particulay against the the ruling party. I will not leave my party because I am afraid to correct a Mugabe in making in my party!! We need very sensibly young leaders whom our children can look as real models to be emulated. We are a young democracy we can’t afford to groom a society without values. The new democratic government system in place our country need massive assistance from every citizen to make it run. Above it all we need condusive environment for investmant.
To conclude I must state that I do not mind those who will find it fit to insult me for what I have said but remember this: In Cape Town in 1994 during the world economic forum, Mugabe said he still believed in nationalisation but he was at one time persued in Davos in Swirtzland in 1992 that we will get no capital investment if he applied that policy. Privatasation he told the forum was beyond discussion, he went ahead and dified advice, look at his country today and you will satisfy yourself that South African can not afford unprincipled leaders.

    43. MMAKHADI says:

MALEMA IS NOT THE PRODUCT OF FANCY SCHOOLS LIKE PRETOIA BOYS HIGH AND HOER SKOOL POTGIETERSRUS.HE IS THE PRODUCT OF BANTU EDUCATION SAB-A. BUT HE PROVED HIMSELF THAT HE CAN BE A LEADER.

I DON’T CARE HOW HE COLLECTED HIS WEALTH BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS BEHIND THE THE TENDER PROCCESS. HE NEVER WORKED FOR THE GOVERMENT SO GIVE HIM A BREAK. MANKOKO I AGREE WITH YOU MALEMA WILL PROSPER. MATHEWS YOU NEED TO LIVE WITH IT. AMANDLA MA-AFRICA

    44. Pogiso says:

Malema might not be well educated as many people are insinuating but the fact remains,he’s got a natural brainpower and no one is gonna take that away from him.SEEMA-you just said that Education is the key to success in whaever you want to do and i wish to agree with you but on contrary Malema never went to those fancy schools and universities but he continues to prosper and achieves quite a lot in this real life. The question is why?Simply because of his natural God given brainpower.I have just picked up that those who think that are educated and not successful as Malema are the ones busy gunning for his downfall.MMAKHADI YOU ARE SPOT ON,MATTHEWS SORRY BOET YOU’LL HAVE TO LIVE WITH,HE’S THE YOUTH PRESIDENT AT THE END OF THE DAY.

    45. Rigadon says:

None of you Julius supporters can protect him from fate and surely he shall meet her soon. He’s digging a grave with every word he utters.

    46. Waiting for change says:

Malema is and idiot and this is not because of his matric results. He feels that he is above the law, he condones hate speech because it suits him. If singing old songs about harming people in our country and expelling international journalists from press meetings are okay… then how far have we really come as a country. We as a country should be embarrassed to have someone like malema in the position he is in. As an ambassador for our country he is a digrace. We need to think about what message we would like to send out to the world about what sort of country we are, are we the next Zimbabwe, with men like malema in power DEFINATELY. Those of you who support malema, ask yourself how he has helped you… leaders of today will never compare to madiba, it seems that none of them learnt from the master. If you want to follow someone follow HIM.

    47. Snoop Mokoena says:

He so stupid and thought less. as i saluit

    48. zane says:

      Power to the people!
education is a must for the development of one’s moral fiber, family & community. we must however be vigilant about what we feed our brain. some ppl study to be employee’s while some become employer’s. its God who give the wisdom. ppl like Juilus Malema are rare these days and i think we should thank God for sending us HIM in this time of confusion. the youth deserve the right to know that we were cheated & robbed off our birth-right by ppl like Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu and a few others. how can u forget and forgive 500 years of Brutality? they signed wrong deals with Britain in 1993 and now we are still under British laws and policies. they use South Afrika as their Camping and hunting ground, a mine of wealth and a properly trained workforce to carry out their missions. the whites still ill treat Black ppl in S.A. we cant just and pretend everything is okay, we are getting tired of this treatment in our own Land. u young ppl should read good books, its better to be Wise than to be just a Clever slave. lets put the cellphones and all the entertainment aside for a while and do some introspection! this World Cup is a bribe to blind us from the truth.
THEY MUST GO! AFRIKA MUST BE FREE NOW AND FOREVER MORE.
      AMEN!

    49. zane says:

Julias Malema is a showing off politicaaly premature bastard who does not even know a thing about this politics, just listen to what he said at the university of Johannesburg, I was there and I heard him he said “We don’t want people like Thabo Mbeki, who ran away when the fire was Hot and comes back when it’s cool, We want people like Jacob Zuma and Nelson Mandela who stand up and fight for their people”, The very wrong statement, Thabo Mbeki never ran away, he is one of those ANC selected to go to study over sees when others are fighting, The wanted us to have some educated leaders, Just like Manto Chabalala Msimang(May her soul rest in peace), So the stupid nigga because of his sstupidity does not even know that it was ANC that was paying Mr Mbeki’s fees

    52. SUPRISE says:

THE SO CALLED JULIUS DONT KNOW HIS JOB,IF HE DOES Y DNT HE APPLY IT ACCORDINGLY.ALL HE KNOWS IS TO INSULT PEOPLE WHO DID MISTAKES WHN TRYING 2 PERFM THEIR JOB.WHAT THIS BOY IS DOING IS SO MUCH CHIELDISH,SHEEPISH ND WATEVER.NXT TYM WE MUST CHOOS PEOPLE WHO HAVE INITIATED.DA MAN MUST RSPCT HIS AGE.

    56. Tumelo says:

Julius malema is a true leader hu doesnt hide thngs 4rm his pple. 57. Pogiso says:

I like the way u popularise my President.Every time u utter his name,he’s bcoming more popular…He’s not on this position by a fluke nd ddnt apply 4 it bt he ws chosen by majority…Malema is an ANC youth President nd tht’s a fact…

    58. TSEPO says:

THERE IS NO REASON TO JUDGE MALEMA WITH HIS RESULT HE FOUGHT FOR HIS COUNTRY EVEN JACOB ZUMA KNOWS HIM ,ACTUALLY YOUTH LEGUE CONQUER A LARGER SHARE IN VOTES AND WE AS YOUTH WE LIKE HIM SO OBVIOUS LIKE IT OR NOT HE WILL CONTINU WITH THI JOURNEY AND THOSE WHO DOESNOT LIKE HIM SORRY JUST GO TO HELL ,HELL HELL!!!!!!

    59. Bank says:

My message is to Mathew,My friend you must be a stupid idiot to think that The youth Leader is a racist without education, let me ask you,at your your age what have you achieved in this country with yours, With your level of education and intelligence you cant stand The youth Leader Mr.Julias Malema in any platform GO TO HELL ANIMAL

    60. Duma says:

I have been following recent comment about The Youth Leader of my brothers. i think this is a comment that is going to be a final on this matter.

Malema is a leader looking at the way he articulate himself with issues affceting the general populace of south africa. He seemed to know the root problem that affcet his people albert the lack of education as prostulated by most commentators.

in my view, he stand a big chance to represent his his fellow country men. he is fine in my view although he needs to work on his education cocurrent for him to be able to express himself wothout hindrence. encourage the leader to be educated for your good cause i don’t see him going anywhere. he stand a better chance to be at the helm of the party.

why dont you guys appoint someone who will be advising him on every statement that he is going to utter before he goes public. stop this infighting business and concerntrate on the real issues that affect your people and you as well.

    61. Bongani says:

I am unsatisfied by the services rendered by Vodacom because we actually lack interms of free minutes we only get or obliged to recharge with R12 or more in order to qualify for free minutes and the worse part of it we only use those free minutes at night when people are still asleep so it is quite a little number of people (40%) who accept being called at night. So if Vodacom can try to rectify that matter because people will run away from using Vodacom as their most powerful and dedicated service provider.

    62. Magoda says:

bongani u r such a stupid mechanical mind human u always 4get 2 wind up ur mind every m0rning is the reason y u dnt knw wher 2 report matter idnt even thk malema cn do dat ineva heard hm tokn abt vodacm or whatever in ds page un lyk u.shuld get a lyf

    63. Akhona says:

It is very important how you adress your oppinions to people than just telling them the way you want to. Malema’s big Problem is how to communicate with people, especially to elders. He at the Moment or maybe forever doesn’t qualify to be a leader. Even if he passed matric, he possibly would still behave the way as he does

    64. Malema is a leader looking at the way he articulate with issues affecting the general population of South Africa…Viva JuJu Viva..You are the future, I salute you

    65. Cornie says:

All those who said malema was a great leader what happened in the last hour. Haha.

    66. setfree says:

The matric result has nothing to do with maleme’s position as polotician, the matter here is that Malema failed himself by allowing those people to lead him to the grave of politics. yes malema is a good leader but without direction of life. education play a vital role when it comes to leadership, so south african young people you must put education first and the rest must follow. don’t missuse the opportunity of being educated like MALEMA

    67. Monique says:
