The whole country has to continue to suffer just because of a passport! This is the situation Zimbabwe is facing. There was meant to be a meeting in Swaziland yesterday with Heads of State from SADC together with Mugabe, Tsvangirai and Mutambara from the political parties in Zimbabwe. The meeting was also meant to be attended by mediator, Thabo Mbeki as all parties involved look to find a solution to the political crisis in Zimbabwe. The meeting and talks yesterday were meant to hopefully reach an agreement between the parties in Zimbabwe as to who will govern which ministries. But alas, that meeting did not take place all because of a passport!

MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai has not had a passport for a while as his passport had become full after all the travelling he has been doing. Now he tried to apply for a new passport and the authorities incharge, that would be the department of Home Affairs in Zimbabwe have not granted him a passport. So there was no way Tsvangirai could leave the country top attend the meeting in Swaziland as he had no passport. Now the Zimbabwe authorities issued Tsvangirai with emergency travel documents but Tsvangirai refused these as he says that he deserves a proper passport like every other Zimbabwe citizen. Whether Tsvangirai is right or wrong to take this stance is up to you. It baffles me why they would refuse to give the next Prime Minsiter of the country a passport? And by not giving him a simple green book with his picture in it, the country suffers as the talks were canceled!

Now the talks have been rescheduled to take place in Harare next week but as every passing day goes in Zimbabwe and the politicall situation is not resolved, the people of Zimbabwe continue to suffer.
