We at InTheNews.co.za would like to call upon the attacks to stop immediately. All the talk currently in South Africa is about the xenophobia attacks happening in the Gauteng province in South Africa. It is reported that at least 22 people have lost their lives so far during these attacks and the attacks don’t seem to be stopping. As South Africans, how can we allow this to continue? A small section of our population is tarnishing the image of South Africans now.

The South Africa national soccer team, Bafana Bafana, is set to travel to Nigeria to play a match and already there have been suggestions for increased security for the team in Nigeria with the fear that the team could be attacked by angry Nigerians. Many people are not happy with what is going on, mostly foreigners but so to South Africans like me. The fear is that the rest of Africa is going to see South African’s in a bad light because of these attacks. The repercussions of these attacks could really be damaging for South Africa.

We should learn to live with our fellow Africans. When we needed a place to go to, they welcomed us, now that they are in a similar situation we shun down upon them and force them to leave our country. Please South Africa, let us stop this.

It is understandable that we as SA citizens feel threatened by foreigners who are taking over the industry but does everyone choose to forget how we were supported by Africa as a whole not so long ago when we were going through a rough patch with the apartheid era.Is it not time to accomodate those wh are in dire need of support? They may be an influx but surely if we are joined together with them and they will appreciate our effort in the future when things are up and runnong in their respective countries.
I’m pretty sure they are here not for permanent stay but until such a time that their countries stabilised. So,come on people let us not behave like hooligans and besides we have a lot at stake if these attacks continue.2010 has been our dream for such a long t\ime,why risk that and what about all potential investors, are they not being given the wrong impression?

I belive when the fight was waged against apartheid, because the struggle was against inhumanity to man, we ended-up lossing ourselves and our humaness. This is manifest in the atrocities being committed in the name of xenophobia. This is insane and borderline monstrous! Not even animals treat each other in this manner, we lost ubuntu and earned hate of collosal proportions.Have we lost the fight and earned loathing? Lost in the sense that when political power was earned in 1994 we built castles in the air and thought we wouldn’t have to for them? Land of milk and honey? You should have gone to school to be able to afford the cow and the bee-hive in the first place and not go after defenceless, landless people who are not as lazy as you expecting the future to meet you at the street-corner, you imbecile!
