I am sure many of us bought yesterdays Sunday Times and were shocked after reading the papers main headline : How Schabir Shaik controlled Zuma. After reading the article, I thought to myself, “What the heck is going on here? Is this guy seriously going to be our next president?”

For those of you who did not see the paper, you can read the article on the Sunday Times website here.
Now if this article is accurate and all that it states are true, Shaik literally controlled Zuma’s life. How can you have someone pay for your R10 car wash and have it accounted for? The question then is, “Why was Shaik paying for all of the expenses?” If you put one and one together it means that Shaik ‘owed’ Zuma ‘something’ and thus why Shaik was paying him for every last expense from car insurance to shopping for designer clothes.

Now the taxman is after Zuma as apparently he did not declare this ‘income’ he was getting from Shaik. The report states that Shaik gave Zuma almost R4m over a period of time. This is a lot of money and sure the taxman will want his share of it. After all it is a crime not to declare all your income.

It is going to be very interesting to see where all this heads and how it will end. A rather interesting way to start off the year. Sit back and buckle up because this is going to be one heck of a ride.
