Today Eskom has warned that there will be country-wide load shedding for the whole day.

The reason being that, there are a number of power station not operating and also a problem is being experienced with the countries power supply from Mozambique. Eskom say that load shedding will be done in two hour phases throughout the day.

I feel it is now time serious action is taken with regards to the electricity supply situation in South Africa. One doesn’t have to look far. Just look up north to Zimbabwe where some areas are going for weeks without electricity and how that has crippled the country. Electricity supply plays such a critical role in any country and without it the country could be in for a serious crisis. With the rate of development of South Africa, surely measures have to be put into place to accommodate this high rate of development and electricity supply should be high on the agenda. More houses and businesses are coming up everyday and they all need electricity in one form or the other.

I guess with all this load shedding taking place it is now only a matter of time before Eskom increase the electricity tariffs so that they can finance the expansion and development of the electricity supply in South Africa. Something has to be done and it looks like us as the consumer are going to have to bare the brunt of it all pay paying more for electricity.

So brace yourself for a possible two hour period today where you will have no electricity.
