I could not believe my eyes when I saw this new Steers commercial on television! I find this advert to be so inappropriate and I think it should be taken off the air. It verges on the point of nudity and can not be ideal for family viewing. For those of you who have not seen the advert yet; basically it is a screen split into two and on one side they are showing Steers hamburgers and on the other side they are showing half dressed women with a main focus on certain parts of their bodies.
The advert is not only inappropriate for family viewing but also demeaning to women. I am not sure what the advert is trying to prove; is it trying to compare women to hamburgers? Or is it trying to test if people will look at the hamburgers rather than the women?
If Steers want to continue with the advert then they should not show it during family time viewing. I was watching the Wimbledon final yesterday with my family and this advert pops up for all of us to see. But I guess Steers have achieved what they wanted they have gotten people such as myself to start talking about this advert and that is what they want. Great marketing from their point but can they please stop using ’sex’ to sell hamburgers.

I think ur inappropriate, ur pethetic!!!!
I agree with the writter. This ad can not be on our screens for too long, it has to come off.
This is not the first time Steers have had a controversial advert. This time, they have gone a bit too far. This advert is not suitable for our children. Please have it removed.
I am a creative in Namibia and have seen some great adverts from around the world. South Africa is way up there with great adverts. This might not be the best ad but it works. Women might nog agree to much but most men do. It stickes in their minds. affective? for sure. creative. not really. should adverts be allowed to go that far. I think so. SA is way to conservative for it’s own good because of people with their NG kerk attitude
The fact that people are talking about means there is something right or wrong about this ad. Creative - yes but appropriate - no. This ad should be aired at the same time as those midnight shows on etv, that is where it would be appropriate.
and on cartoon network ….lol
but you are right… reaction is what they went for and they got it…. so well done to steers marketing team for signing off on it
