The elections in Zimbabwe were held on Saturday with many voters I suspect opting to vote the current president, Robert Mugabe, to be ousted out of power. The people of Zimbabwe have suffered enough and it is time for a change for them and many went to the polls this weekend to vote for a change. But it looks like democracy will not prevail as the election process has been flawed. I will like to term it as being a joke. It is so clear that the elections have not been free and fair but there are some people actually standing up in front of the whole world and admitting that everything is free and fair!

Reports suggest that the voting process went smoothly on Saturday and results would have been expected to start being announced on that Saturday evening but it was not only until Monday morning that the first set of results came out. But prior to that, the opposition party, MDC, had started announcing their ‘own’ results based on the results that had been posted outside the polling stations. MDC can not be faulted for announcing what has been posted, but the ruling party ZANU PF think that what the MDC is doing is wrong and that it is verging on the grounds of being a coup! Give me a break! What is wrong with announcing what is in the public domain? It is like watching a soccer match and the final score is 3 - 2 and then you say, “Team X won 3 - 2″ but someone else says “No they didn’t!” We all saw the game and the result has been made official by the referee so what is the problem? This is exactly what is happening in Zimbabwe.

It is clear that the MDC have clearly won these elections and the ruling party are either just finding a way to try delay announcing the inevitable that Zimbabwe potentially has a new president or the delay is because they are plotting a way to rig the vote. Why is the announcement of results taking such a long time? I would assume it is just a matter of tallying up the results posted outside each polling station which surely anyone is able to do. Which is what the MDC are doing. The results outside the polling stations should be identical to the ones being announced by the ZEC (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission). But already there seems to be discrepancies between the results being announced by the ZEC and MDC. So who is lying to us?

As of this morning (Tuesday morning) ZANU PF were leading the parliamentary votes by 2 constituencies ahead of the MDC. It seems pretty neck and neck right now but we all know that at the end of the day ZANU PF are going to win. Chances are via a stolen ballot.

How can someone seriously vote for a leader who has clearly failed the country? Inflation in Zimbabwe is 100 000%, there is no water, no food, no electricity and no fuel and you expect someone who has a brain and a stomach to walk up and vote for the leader who is putting them through that hardship? I think not, thus the reason I think no one would have voted for the current leader. But funny enough that leader is going to be the one to win the elections. What a joke!

It is really sad what is happening in Zimbabwe right now and millions of people have to suffer just because of one person!!

We in Zim are really getting worried about rigging…we have been waiting for these results for too long now and it is obvious that there is a problem otherwise they would have started announcing them on Sunday.
There is also a rumour of a possible re - vote for the Presidential elections because they have been kept for so long that the chances of rigging are very high.
Personally, I think that Tsvangirai won because MDC just took the results that were stuck outside the Polling stations and compared them already..that is why Tsvangirai is already claining victory because he knows that he won…
