Black people we are sorry that some of us acted without thinking when those Free State students urinated on food and gave it to Black workers. We did not mean to go that far but understand that those Free State students had good reason to do what they did, they just got carried away. It was meant to be a joke, well I think it was. I don’t know the Free State students but I think it was just a bad practical joke. Why the fuss? De Klerk responded quickly, even though he does not represent all us Whites anymore, he reacted and even the Freedom Front Plus was against this. Why are the Blacks so angry? It’s not like this has not happened before, during Apartheid this was acceptable if not encouraged.
So we are in a new South Africa, new Constitution and Bill of Rights, Apartheid is no longer cool but there are those in our community who live by the laws and thoughts of Apartheid. The Free State students seem to live by Apartheid; they don’t want Blacks in their residents. And they were protesting that. They went about it in the wrong way but they have every right to protest integration. They were first at the university and they have every right to demand that Blacks stay on their side of the street and in their residents. Why do they want to stay with Whites any way? They can’t speak Afrikaans or English well.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think what those Free State students did was good but I understand their frustration. Some, if not most, White people in South Africa feel that the Blacks are taking over everything we built. They are getting jobs because they are Black and when they get those jobs they mess everything up. Look at Eskom, they gave it to the Blacks who forced us, Whites, out and now we have no power. When we were running Eskom things ran well but under Black leadership we are having blackouts. This makes me angry and I think I’m not alone. Since the end of Apartheid, we Whites have been marginalised and the country has gone to the dogs.
So when young White Free State students act out, you should understand where they are coming from. We are a part of this country too and we should still run it for the betterment of everyone.
Anyway sorry that those kids pissed in the food.
